Stress Fractures and Running


– Somebody comes in with
a foot stress fracture, and the thought is oh,
their foot is injured, let’s cushion the foot. Let’s make it nice and soft
so that that stress fracture isn’t taking as much stress, right? What we’ve found is that actually that’s the exact opposite
of what you need to do. Why? Because that softness is causing them to put more pressure through their foot. What you actually probably
would be better off doing, is making a firmer insert
that supports the foot a little bit better. This way they can use
their knees and their hips a little bit more to soften the load.
