Melt Me Down

Melt Me Down

“This is a test of the Long Range Accoustic Device “LRAD” from American Technology Corporation.” [http://lradx.com] Inside my head is a place that nobody can reach. A place that nobody can touch. I go there when I am sad, or alone. When I am lost, or when I am afraid. In this place, it’s alright, not to be “OK”. But one day, a piercing sound split my ear. Now the voice that used to tell me to “hold on” is gone. And all that’s left, is a ringing. In 2015, I founded the Campaign to Abolish Sonic Weapons. The Campaign to Abolish Sonic Weapons (CASW), politically opposes the development of sonic weaponry for use both on, and off the battlefield. It politically opposes the labelling of sonic weapons as: “Defense” “Communication”, and “Peaceful”. The Campaign states that these descriptive terms are false, and mis-leading because they do not substantiate the physical force operating inside the subjects head. It states that an impairment of hearing, however momentary, is also an impairment of our ‘inner speech’ and should therefore be considered an instrument of psychological torture. The Campaign to Abolish Sonic Weapons reasons that since LRAD blurs the psychological boundaries between the self and the outside world, it’s disturbing effects can linger on long after initial exposure. I will not let them take the spring out from my step nor will I loose the voice of my friend I will carry my song so far inside my ear that you can MELT ME DOWN and never find it. Never hear. I asked my father will I be safe from this danger? “avoid it” he said and hung his head I asked my teacher and he said there is danger Luke, in this war you wager. A Song too loud to hear. The melody an everlasting ringing in the ear. And so I put it to you that those untrained in the power of sound should not be employed by the government to make it. It comes to a burning point A sound so loud it could KILL A sound so strong it would HURT
