How to Use & Maintain Welding Equipment : How to Change a Welding Tip

On behalf of Expert Village, I?m Terry and
today I?m going to show you how to use a welder. Now I?m going to show you how to use a tip.
A good set of welder suppliers, they’re a little expensive, they run about 25 to 30
bucks. But as you can see there’s a little Beebe on the end of the wire. In order to
change the tip, I clip them off. I could take the tip out and replace it with another. Now
it should say right on here that this is for 045 wire so your tip has to be changed according
to the size of the wire which you have in your gun. I?m going to turn it on. I?m going
to feed. I don’t have the gas on because I’d be wasting gas. I?m going to feed it out and
my tip is on. So there is your tip. Your tip should be anywhere from 8 to a quarter inch
receding inside the nozzle. If it’s sticking out, even when the nozzle is out further,
you would get what we call beebes or bilberry’s it won’t mound us and obviously you can’t
get gas to your weld surs, so you won’t have a very good weld.
