Hobart Filler Metals Help Marine Group Boat Works Build U.S. Navy Dive Boats

These boats have to be real tough. The Navy divers are extremely rigorous. They work 24 hours a day. They’re constantly immersed in salt water, hence the aluminum construction, and they’ve got to be able to slam up against the side of a ship or submarine over and over again
and not risk the divers or the vessel that they’re up against. Gotta be able to withstand whatever nature can throw at them. Strength is everything. You know, you’re out in the ocean and the welds fail, people die. I’ve been working with
Hobart for many, many years. The wire’s everything. This is the Cadillacs of
the welding, you know. Hobart wire, helium gas, push
and pull welding machines, that’s the way to go. That’s cutting edge. Quality materials and quality workmanship equals a product that can withstand the durability that’s required to give a 25 year lifespan on a boat that works everyday of the year. The Navy came to us for
their new construction needs on smaller, very specialty support crafts because of our reputation
for high precision, high quality materials,
high quality products that can meet their 25 year
minimum lifespan requirement. Ever since I made a switch over to Hobart, I’ve noticed that it’s
such a higher quality wire. It matches up perfectly. You can go and check any project that we’ve got going on
in the yard right now. We’re burning Hobart wire and the welds are absolutely perfect. I don’t know how you guys do it.
