Fun Art Project To Do With Kids | Melted Crayon Art

Hey Everyone, I hope you’re well. Today Is an Art Project day! I love doing art projects with my kids. Not only is it good for their brains as a creative outlet, but it’s also really good for their fine and gross motor skills… and, it’s just plain fun! So, today I’m gonna show you how we made some melted crayon art. All you’re gonna need is a box of crayons, some small or large canvases (you can get these at a craft store) or even some cardstock weight paper, and a hair dryer. Once you get the crayons peeled, and figure out what type of pattern you want to make with the melted wax, you just glue the crayons on and melt away! I used super glue and Crayola crayons, but I bet you could use any other type of glue or crayons. I decided I wanted to make mine a little more complicated, and add a little umbrella under the colors, kind of like rainbow rain- So, I rigged up my canvas with a small glass, covering one part of it, to keep that part clean. Now, it will take a little bit of time for the crayons to get warm enough to melt from the hairdryer, but once they start melting it’s really super cool. After I’d melted the crayons for what I thought was enough time, I let them dry for about a minute or two and then carefully removed the glass from the bottom. I cleaned up the edges of the melted wax, and then drew a little umbrella underneath. And, there you have it! A tiny little canvas art, that I think is just adorable. I also like that it kind of dripped on this side…
That’s super fun. And I really love it. It feels like a happy little piece of art that I can just stick somewhere, and every time I look at it, it will make me smile. I think it would also be really fun to try this out with different shapes blocked out… so if you try it with little hearts or legos or something, that could be really interesting. If you try that and figure out how to do it in a cool way, please leave me a comment down below- I would love to hear new innovative ways to do this. So, there’s one suggestion for an art project you could do with your kids today. I hope you try it out, and if you do leave me a comment down below and Let me know how it went!
