Electricity Myths #4

Electricity Myths #4

– [Narrator] Electricity
myth number four. Rubber boots or gloves
will protect you from an electrical shock. Fact. Most household goods
aren’t pure rubber and will not protect you. Pure rubber is what’s
called an insulator, a material that does
not allow electricity to pass through it. But this type of rubber clothing must be specifically designed and tested to
handle electricity. It should be used only
by trained linemen. Household rubber items, like cleaning gloves
or rain boots, are not made of pure rubber and will not protect
you from electricity. Electric advice. Never touch a power line. Leave it to the professionals. (bright music)
