An AT&T Aspire Contribution to Columbia College

Music ♪ RANDY: The Aspire program is really
amazing, it’s an investment in our kids. Our young people. Giving them an opportunity. I love the name Aspire, because it is giving to the people that would not otherwise have that opportunity to grow and become what they want to be, what they aspire to be. Great name, great program, thank you AT&T. JULIE: This AT&T Aspire contribution will be used to support Columbia’s College Success Program, and that provides transportation
assistance, peer group and counseling support, with other access to social services, that can assist foster youth who attend Columbia College. STEPHANIE: My name is Stephanie Beaver, and I would like to invite any of the students who are participating in our foster youth program, Phoenix Scholars, to come on up. I am our designated foster youth
counselor, and I have been facilitating the coordination to be able to create
a program that serves some of our wonderful
students here. You see four students here, but we actually have over fifty
students now. I told a few of our students about this wonderful grant from AT&T. I had said that we were being given
twenty thousand dollars. And you should’ve seen the expression. It not only shows this campus and this community that our students are worth investing in, but it shows each one of our current and former foster youth that they really are worth it. RANDY: They went to a place where it
would count. Where it would make a real difference. They reached into rural, rural Tuolumne County… and they’re making an investment. Our job– and I’ll join you in any
way I can– Our job is to make a difference. Help these people… grow and become something. Help them achieve. I love Columbia College, it is an important institution in our county, and it does those things that we need. So thank you, thank you AT&T… thank you– I’m gonna call you Angela, I’m not gonna call you Dr. Fairchilds because you’re my friend. And Stephanie… we’re countin’ on ya. (Applause) CHRISTA: This contribution from AT&T really… really makes me feel… validated, and that I’m in the right place
in my life, and that my education matters, not only to me, but other people in the community. ERICSON: AT&T investment in us means to me that I have an opportunity to be someone in my future, and that someone believes in me. KELSEY: Coming from a diverse background, with no hope and no dream of an education, AT&T has shown me that they believe in us and want us to have a brighter future. So thank you for your investment. GROUP: Thank you AT&T, from the
Phoenix Scholars!
