2015-2017 Mustang Stainless Steel Delrin Wrapped Shift Knob Review & Install (GT, EcoBoost, V6)

What’s going on, guys? Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today I’m bringing you a quick overview of
the Stainless Steel Delrin Wrapped Shift Knob in black, available for all 2015 and newer
GT, V6 and EcoBoost Mustangs. So in this video, I’ll be going over the functionality
and styling you can expect out of the Delrin Wrapped Shift Knob in black, as well as the
materials and construction, and then I’ll even take you through the installation, which
I’ll tell you upfront will get a very simple one out of three wrenches on our difficulty
meter. Let’s jump right into it. So the Stainless Steel Delrin Wrapped Shift
Knob in black is gonna be for the 2015 and newer GT, V6 or EcoBoost Mustang owner out
there looking to swap out their boring factory shift knob for something a little bit more
unique in shape and material that really will stand out in the interior of their S550. Now what’s gonna make this shift knob stand
out from the other options on the market is gonna be that shape and of course that Delrin
Wrap. Now, the shape fits comfortably in the palm
of your hand, while straying away from the common cue ball styling we all see on the
market today. Even I fell prey to that one, but of course
this one is gonna stand out from that cue ball styling and really gonna grab some attention
for the interior of your S550. This one also has that Delrin Wrap, which
is somewhat of a rubbery plastic material and a hardened shell, wrapped around a stainless
steel. Now this one is gonna blend in with the black
accents of your S550’s interior, while also standing out, thanks to the top of these stainless
steel materials there. Now as far as the materials and construction
goes, in addition to that Delrin Wrap, underneath you can expect this to be manufactured right
here in the U.S.A. out of a 303 stainless steel, all CNC machine for a perfect design,
and then hand-brushed aluminized right on top with a high speed electric motor. Now this one of course will all weigh in at
about 1.05 pounds and is gonna be a weighted shift knob. Now I do wanna point out, before jumping into
the pricing, this one is manufactured to be used with a stock shifter in the S550. So if you’re running an aftermarket shifter,
make sure your thread pattern matches the 12-millimeter by one-and-a-quarter thread
pattern here on the shift knob. If it doesn’t, you might wanna check out some
of the other options on the market. And of course Hurst Shifters, if you’re running
one of those, typically utilize only Hurst Shift Knobs. So keep that in mind when you’re shopping
around. Now if this is something that does pique your
interest, expect to be picking this one up for about 160 bucks. Now of course that is gonna be on the higher
side of the price tag, but you’re really paying for, of course, the Delrin Wrap, the high
quality stainless steel with the manufacturing process, and of course that unique shape and
styling for the interior of your Mustang. And all in all, you’re getting a lot of bang
for your buck with this one. Now, as far as the installation goes, of course
as you can imagine, this one is gonna be very simple, something anybody can do with just
a few minutes in the vehicle at home here. Now of course all you’re gonna have to do
is unscrew your factory shift knob, remove the factory jam nut, replace the jam nut with
the aftermarket one and then throw on the actual Delrin Wrap Shift Knob. All in all, about a few minutes, like I said. Definitely giving this one a one out of three
wrenches on our difficulty meter. Just to wrap things up here, guys, if you’re
the owner of a 2015 or newer GT, V6 or EcoBoost Mustang, and you’re looking for a way to swap
out your factory shift knob which is a little bit boring for something a little more unique
in shape and styling, while also getting a weighted shift knob, you might wanna check
out the stainless steel Delrin Wrapped Shift Knob in black, available right here at americanmuscle.com.
